Black Nurses Rock Talks Mental Health and COVID-19

In this episode, Perina Gaines, founder and CEO of Black Nurses Rock, talks about the impact of COVID-19 and how self-care is essential to one’s mental health. Black Nurses Rock was founded in 2014 with a focus on fostering a positive environment for professional growth and development. Black Nurses Rock is the largest minority nursing association in the country, representing over 174,000 African American nurses and students from USA, Canada, Eastern Caribbean, Japan, and Germany.

People in our under-served communities have already been impacted by economical stressors. And now to have COVID come, it’s compounded issues of them having access to health care, access to grocery stores, of course there are food deserts in the area, and now with people being quarantined and being restricted not to come out, has made it an even bigger challenge for them to get access to food, to healthcare.
