Self-confidence definitely improves when you’re happy with how you look and how you feel. If you feel good, you look great. There’s really no one product that does everything. It really begins with being good to yourself. Mental and physical health play a big part in your inner and to your outer beauty. My mom always told me: take care of your body and it’ll take care of you.

Lolita

Lolita struggled with an addiction for thirty years. She lived with her mother and had different jobs, but only kept them for short periods of time because of her drug use. When her mother died, she hit rock bottom. Without her support system and a place of her own to live, Lolita recognized that she could not continue living the way she had been. She needed a place that provided time and structure so that she could overcome her addictions.

Tracy

Tracy never felt like a part of her family. She started using drugs and alcohol to “make friends” when she was just 12 and continued using through college, marriage, and pregnancy with her twins. Tracy still managed to hold a steady government job and she believed no one knew when she was drunk or high at work. In Tracy’s mind she had it “all under control,” but in reality her life was slipping away.

Sherrilyn

With young children in tow, a recent divorce, and a move back to DC, Sherrilyn (who had a government job at the time) got involved with drugs in her early thirties. It was not long before she was spiraling out of control–she lost her job, lost custody of her daughters and lost her housing. Frequently in and out of jail due to drugs, she tried to get clean, but somehow always wound up homeless and using again.
