Volunteer

During these unprecedented times, we want to prioritize the health and safety of our Village family – clients, volunteers, staff, and supporters. We are suspending all NEW volunteers and groups until further notice. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Heidi Gauthier at hgauthier@nstreetvillage.org.

If you are looking to support the Village, we are in need of in-kind donations and direct contributions to ensure the Village doors are always open and supplies are stocked.

By volunteering at N Street Village, you play an essential role in improving the lives of homeless and low-income women in our community. N Street Village hosts more than 400 volunteers annually who donate more than 12,000 hours of service to our community.

VIRTUAL VOLUNTEERING

Donation Drive and Supply Kits: We are looking for volunteers to collect and assemble supply kits for clients and residents. Choose from options like Toiletry Kits, Craft Kits, or Welcome Kits. This is a great opportunity for groups to give back together. For more information and to receive a list of items, please contact Donna-Marie Thompson.

Virtual Days of Service: Consider joining us for a virtual day of service where employees can gather with Village staff over Zoom for an event of your choice. From assembling supply kits together to facilitating a Village Q&A, we have plenty of options for you to choose from! For information on how to get started, please contact Heidi Gauthier.

Sponsor an Ice Cream Party for Community Residents: Purchase ice cream and toppings for 12-40 residents depending on the residential program of choice. Shopping lists will be provided upon request. For more information, please contact Donna-Marie Thompson.

Sponsor Miriam’s House Community Dinners: Typically, Miriam’s House volunteers prepare and serve dinner Sunday and Wednesday evenings. During the health crisis, our volunteer groups haven’t been able to prepare and cook dinner at the facility as usual, but we are looking for generous volunteers to provide a meal for 27 clients. To ensure food safety standards, the meals are required to be prepared in a commercial kitchen or ordered from a local restaurant. For more information, please contact Donna-Marie Thompson.

Volunteer Voices: We are looking for new additions to our Client Classes and Resources page. Activated in response to COVID-19, this page provides access to classes, activities, and groups for residents sheltering in place. If your employees are interested in sharing a talent- like crafts, music, fitness- or creating a ‘Volunteer Voices’ video to share an encouraging message with clients, please email Donna-Marie Thompson.
