Volunteer
By volunteering at N Street Village, you play an essential role in the lives of homeless and low-income women in our community. N Street Village hosts over 300 volunteers annually who donate over 12,000 hours of service to our community. We offer a variety of individual and group volunteer opportunities.
Individual Volunteers
Opportunities: Individual volunteers can work directly with our clients or behind the scenes to help keep our organization running smoothly. Volunteers work as learning lab monitors and tutors, prepare and serve lunches and dinners, pick up donations, help maintain our courtyard garden, assist on overnight shifts in our shelter, help with fundraising and event planning, and offer their professional health services to women in our Wellness Center. Please see our full list of current volunteer opportunities for more information. All individual volunteers are required to attend a volunteer orientation prior to their service.
Get Started:
- Complete the Individual Volunteer Information Form and email it to Anne Steeves, Volunteer and In-Kind Gifts Coordinator, at asteeves@nstreetvillage.org.
- Sign up for a volunteer orientation. N Street Village volunteers must participate in a one-hour orientation before beginning their service. Orientations are usually held every other Wednesday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Once your volunteer information form is received and reviewed, you will be invited to an orientation.

New Volunteer Opportunities at N Street Village's Miriam's House! N Street Village is now recruiting volunteers for weekly Sunday dinners and Monday evening BINGO. Full descriptions are listed in the “full list of current volunteer opportunities” above. Check the calendars below for our most current needs. All volunteers serving at Miriam’s House will need to attend an N Street Village orientation prior to serving.
Please check the calendars below for a list of our volunteer needs. Any dates marked in red need two volunteers. Openings marked in green need one volunteer. Overnights marked (F) need a female volunteer and (M) need a male volunteer. Contact Anne Steeves at asteeves@nstreetvillage.org for more information. Volunteers who have attended an orientation are able to sign up for available shifts. If you have not attended an orientation, please submit your volunteer information form to begin the process.

Group Volunteers
Opportunities: We work with groups to create meaningful volunteer opportunities that match our current and anticipated program needs, your group size, and your availability. All groups are limited to individuals ages 14 and over. We can accommodate up to 12 individuals in your group.

Due to a very reliable core of volunteers who serve on a regular basis, N Street Village cannot easily accommodate individuals in need of completing a large amount of community service hours in a short amount of time.
