More Than an Internship: Tova’s Path to Purpose, Healing, and Community

Before joining N Street Village, Tova worked a job that left her wanting more.

“I was working in a space that didn’t fulfill me,” she explained. “I wanted to be face-to-face with people—to build real relationships and know I was making a difference in someone’s day.”

That’s exactly what she found as an intern at the Wellness Center.

“At N Street Village, I get to support women directly and help create a space where they feel safe, seen, and supported. That’s something really special.”

For Tova, wellness used to mean things like drinking enough water and getting enough sleep. But her perspective has evolved.

“Wellness is being in a place where you feel good—physically, mentally, spiritually. But what I’ve learned at N Street Village is that it also means being able to navigate your life with stability and dignity. It’s not just individual—it’s communal.”

She’s seen how social, emotional, and vocational wellness intersect, and how support in one area can uplift a woman’s entire life.

“Sometimes it’s not about fixing everything. It’s about showing up consistently. It’s about making someone feel like they matter.”

Tova believes that creating safety—emotionally and physically—is a vital first step in anyone’s wellness journey.

“Mental health struggles can make it hard to even show up for support,” she shared. “But when a woman walks into the Wellness Center and is met with warmth and kindness, that opens a door. It lets her begin to imagine a different path.”

That safe space, Tova said, is where real transformation begins.

Tova’s time at N Street Village has not only deepened her understanding of wellness—it’s helped her grow as a person.

“I’ve learned not to take people’s journeys for granted. You can’t always see what someone’s carrying, and you can’t fix everything. But you can listen. You can offer a moment of relief or joy. That matters.”

She’s grateful for every conversation, every breakthrough, every quiet moment of connection she’s experienced during her internship.

“N Street Village taught me that healing is layered. And now I want to be part of building communities where that kind of healing is possible.”
