“I am delighted about this transition, which will create new and promising opportunities for N Street Village” said Dr. Funke. Dr. Funke added, “This long-planned change further demonstrates N Street Village’s excellence in nonprofit management through smart succession planning and key staff retention.” Dr. Funke served as Executive Director of N Street Village for six-and-a-half years. Under her leadership, The Village won the 2006 Washington Post Award for Excellence in Nonprofit Management; she is also the winner of the 2007 EXCEL Award for Excellence in Chief Executive Leadership. In her new role as President, Dr. Funke will lead The Village’s development team in securing and expanding funding with a special focus on the cultivation and stewardship of major gifts.
Schroeder Stribling has been a member of the senior leadership team at N Street Village since 2003, most recently as Deputy Executive Director. Under Ms. Stribling’s direction, The Village opened its Education and Employment Center, inaugurated its Clinical Services department, revitalized its Recovery Housing program for women with co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse disorders, and partnered with Unity Health Care to launch a primary care clinic in its Wellness Center. Ms. Stribling also significantly strengthened The Village’s outcome measurement and performance management systems and participated in city-wide planning and advocacy regarding homeless services as a member of the DC Interagency Council on Homelessness.
Ms. Stribling said, “I am privileged and delighted to become the next Executive Director of N Street Village. I am especially thrilled that Mary Funke has agreed to become our President. Working together with the extraordinary support of an immensely talented staff, dedicated volunteers, and a network of knowledgeable donors and investors, I am confident that the future holds promise and growth for The Village and the women we serve.”
