In the Washington Post this Weekend

WaPoMagWe are thrilled to share two exciting achievements that you made possible.

This Sunday, the “Inaugural Issue” of the Washington Post Magazine will publish this article featuring two former residents who are now N Street Village employees.

In 2009, Elaine Webber and Emily Miller were offered the chance to attend the People’s Inaugural Ball, an event funded and organized by Virginia philanthropists and N Street Village supporters Earl and Amanda Stafford. The event provided disadvantaged people including those who were homeless, physically or mentally disabled, and wounded veterans, the opportunity to participate in the inauguration of President Barrack Obama, our nation’s first African-American president. This Sunday’s Post Magazine feature article highlights a few stories about the attendees and tells where they are now, four years after the Ball.

We are so proud to say that Elaine and Emily are now thriving — living in their own apartments and giving back to the community every day. As employees of N Street Village, who themselves have struggled with homelessness, Elaine and Emily bring both wisdom and compassion to their work. They know firsthand about the struggles faced by those we serve, and they help to extend to them the dignity and respect that they themselves experienced here.

We are so thankful for Elaine and Emily—and you for helping making their success possible.

I hope you enjoy this article.

Warm regards,
