N Street Village is a community of respect, recovery and hope. Each woman at N Street Village has a story of loss that has
brought them to our doors. Unfortunately, most women who come for services have suffered violence or other traumatic events before or while experiencing homelessness.
Since 2007, N Street Village has committed to providing services in a way that makes trauma survivors feel safe and empowered to rebuild their lives. We also provide individual therapy and trauma recovery groups to support women on their road to recovery. N Street Village has expanded our programs in 2016 and doubled our staff. During this period of growth, it is critical to maintain our commitment to being a trauma-responsive community.
In September, 2016, we gratefully accepted a nearly $60,000 capacity building grant provided by the hope & grace fund, a project of New Venture Fund in partnership with global women’s skincare brand philosophy, inc. This generous grant will enable N Street Village to provide comprehensive training to all staff in the methods for working with survivors of violence and certify a core team of staff to lead trauma recovery groups. We expect nearly 2,000 women experiencing homelessness to benefit from this investment over the coming year.
