A Walk Captain Story: Alberta

IMG_7610For Alberta, a member of the N Street Village community since 2005 and current resident of our permanent supportive housing program, the Community Walk is a family event. Every year, her kids and her grandkids join her to help support N Street Village.

Alberta struggled with addiction for 40 years and her family is glad to finally have her back. As a graduate of N Street Village’s Recovery Housing Program, she is a currently a resident in the Village’s Permanent Supportive Housing program.

Now, instead of worrying where Gramma ’Berta is or what’s going to happen to her, her family spends time visiting her in a safe and supportive community and participating in community events like the Community Walk.  “N Street Village helped me,” Alberta says, “be a mother again to my three kids and a grandmother to my six grandchildren.” Alberta invites you to join her this year and walk with her and her family at N Street Village Strong: A Community Walk.

This year, every person who joins our team as an adult ($30) or youth walker ($20) will count towards our walker goal, even if you can’t attend the Community Walk on October 19. Sign up your friends and family at the same time — just enter each name and click “register another walker” before making final payment.
